The Trust’s activities to date are listed below:

• hosted a lecture on Sorley MacLean by Seamus Heaney at the 2002 Edinburgh International Book Festival. An extensive edited version of the lecture was published in The Guardian on 30,11,02 http://books.guardian.co.uk/poetry/features/0,12887,902836,00.html
  
  
  
• published a limited edition of Sorley’s poem Hallaig,with a translation by Seamus Heaney, to coincide with the 2002 Edinburgh International Book Festival –

• commissioned Mary Ann Kennedy to produce the development phase of a major musical celebration of the poetry of Sorley MacLean, in association with Highland Festival, in 2003. This was the genesis of the Trust’s project for Highland 2007 – see below for more information.

• sponsored a public lecture by Seamus Heaney at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig following his visit to Hallaig in Raasay on the 150th anniversary of the clearance of Hallaig, in June 2004 – www.smo.uhi.ac.uk/smo/naidheachd/fiosan/turas_heaney_b.html
  
  
  
• showcased the Highland 2007 project 'Eadar an Saoghal ‘s a’ Bhiothbhuan (Between the World and Eternity) – a Musical Celebration of the Poetry of Sorley MacLean at six venues in June 2007
