The list of place names that appear on the maps shown fall into two categories: place names which appear in the poetry of Sorley MacLean (shown in bold type); and place names which do not appear within the poems but are known to have been of importance to the poet or are of significance locally (shown in normal type). The list of place names shown here is not exhaustive, but is intended to give a sense of the area which inspired some of the poet’s finest work. The spelling of the place names in English follows that found in the latest Ordnance Survey map of the areas shown.
The index of place names (below) and number of place names that appear on the maps is to be expanded as part of the future development of the site.
